IGN Previews Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed for Wii U, Plus New Trailer

While we’ve seen a bit of SEGA’s Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed over the past few weeks and months, very little of it has had anything to do with the Wii U version of the title, much of which has been kept under wraps. That is, until now.

IGN UK has a preview up, and among the new information shared is the Wii U’s vaunted ability to “slide” the action from the television screen to the new Wii U GamePad on the fly, or use it in a similar fashion as the second screen in Nintendo DS and Nintendo 3DS racers such as Mario Kart 7, displaying maps and racer positions among other things. The GamePad can also be used as a steering wheel, or to engage in some of that “asymmetrical gameplay” during mini-games, such as one in which AiAi from Super Monkey Ball tries to roll around and squash the shrunken-down racers before time runs out.

New tracks are revealed in the article and the trailer above, including Starlight Carnival from Sonic Colors, an After Burner aircraft carrier, and Seaside Hill, which is a Sonic Generations version of the course featured in the first game. And, in case you were wondering, you can also use the Classic or Pro Controllers instead of the GamePad.
