The Nintendo Download – 11/8/12

Kicking off the Nintendo Download this week is the long-awaited release of Paper Mario: Sticker Star at retail and on the Nintendo eShop on Sunday, November 11th. I’m in the process of playing it for a review right now, but here’s a teaser: It’s good, but different from the regular Paper Mario titles, though not as different as, say, Super Paper Mario. It’s basically like the Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins of the Paper Mario series.

Available exclusively in the Nintendo eShop for a not-insignificant $14.99 is the new Pokédex 3D Pro, an updated version of the old Pokédex application. This version offers in-depth information on more than 640 Pokémon.

Fans of the classic SEGA/Disney titles Castle of Illusion and World of Illusion are chomping at the bit for this sequel from the creators of the Epic Mickey series and Henry Hatsworth in the Puzzling Adventure. And now, they can get their hands on it before it’s released with this free downloadable demo.

Remember Johnny, from the fun yet rather challenging Johnny Kung Fu? He’s back, only now he’s going out west in Johnny Hotshot. There’s a new sheriff in town, ready to outshoot and out-lasso Mr. Wang’s outlaws, and you can be him for $5.99.’

On pretty much the opposite end of the spectrum, in terms of theme, is Dress to Play: Cute Witches. For $3.99, you can dress up and go adventuring with your very own custom witch character with 50 challenges and costume pieces, and thousands of combinations.

Available for the Nintendo eShop and Nintendo DSiWare is Come On! Dragons. For $1.99/200 DSi Points, you can defend the kingdom from invasion with a little help from your trusty bow and arrow… and numerous traps.

Johnny Hotshot isn’t UFO Interactive’s only offering today; on both the Nintendo eShop and Nintendo DSiWare, you can get Smart Girl’s Playhouse Mini, a collection of games made specifically for girls featuring such activities as “Drawing, Find Differences, Dress-Up and more!” All for $4.99/500 DSi Points.

SNK continues to show the Wii Virtual Console some love with the release of Sengoku 2 for 900 Wii Points. First released in 1993, this is a side-scrolling beat-em-up with warriors, dark lords, and princesses, as well as the ability to transform into a ninja, ninja dog, or a tengu right from the outset.

Finally, Nintendo Video offers The 2012 Presidential Games. “Tired of the same old election coverage? Then don’t miss our special report on the race. Presidential candidates compete for your vote in 3D, only on Nintendo Video.”

A little late there, aren’t we, Nintendo?

That’s all we’ve got for this week. To find more screens, videos, and information on each of this week’s releases, click each of the relevant links above.
