The Nintendo Download – 4/4/13

This week’s Nintendo Download kicks off with the release of Toki Tori 2, an adventure game in which you use your stomps and whistles to influence the local wildlife in order to solve puzzles. It’s introductory price is $13.49 until April 19th, at which point the price will be raised to $14.99.

On the Wii’s Virtual Console (also accessible in the Wii menu of the Wii U) is 1990’s NAM 1975, a third-person shoot ’em up which pits you as an American Special Forces soldier with machine guns and other firearms against the enemy, who attacks from the background.

This week’s other Virtual Console release is for the Nintendo 3DS, as Castlevania arrives in the game which started a legend. For $4.99, see where it all began as Simon Belmont takes on Dracula and his army of monsters such as Frankenstein’s monster, Medusa, and Death itself, to say nothing of plentiful zombie hordes before it was the cool thing to do.

Two Nintendo 3DS retail titles are now available in the eShop. Real Heroes: Firefighters 3D is a first-person game which takes the gun out of your hands and replaces it with a high-pressure fire hose as you start your first day in a big city fire station. In addition to putting fires out with the hose, you’ll also employ an axe and a saw to help rescue survivors.

In Gabrielle’s Ghostly Groove 3D, you’ll help Gabrielle track down the very soul she managed to sneeze right out of her body. By traveling to Monsterville and mastering 30 levels of rhythm-based dance-offs, she’ll be able to accumulate the power needed to get herself back together.

If you enjoy games like Pac-Man: Championship Edition, then you may want to give escapeVektor a look while it’s on sale for $4.99 in the Nintendo 3DS eShop. Can you help Vektor escape the CPU before it terminates him for good?

Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Gates to Infinity is sporting some new downloadable content today; Ivy Park, Scalchop Beach, Kecleon Bazaar, and Ultimate Beach are available for $2, $2, $2.50, and $3.50, respectively. They’ll be available to you as soon as the DLC menu is unlocked, but you won’t be able to explore them fully until you’ve completed the game’s main story.

Finally, Colors! 3D receives a new update on Friday, April 5th, which adds the ability to follow your favorite artists, participate in painting challenges, and tag and search paintings.

That’s all for this week! Click the corresponding links above in order to get more information on each of this week’s games.
