The Nintendo Download – 5/30/13 – Capcom-o-Rama
This week’s Nintendo Download is just chock-full of Capcom goodness, and leading the pack is the Wii U Virtual Console release of Mega Man X and Ghosts ‘N Goblins for $7.99 and $4.99, respectively (unless you have them on the Wii Virtual Console and choose to upgrade them for $1.50 and $1 each, respectively). Or, if you don’t have them on Wii and are interested in purchasing both, then there’s another option for you, too.
Until 9am PST on June 9th, 2013, you can purchase one game and then, by visiting the Nintendo Wii U eShop and choosing the “Virtual Console Featured Offer,” you can save 50 percent on the second game you purchase. For what it’s worth, I recommend buying Ghosts ‘N Goblins first, as you’ll be able to save about $4 on Mega Man X; purchasing Mega Man X first means you’ll only save about $2.50 on Ghosts ‘N Goblins.
That said, I can highly recommend Mega Man X if you’ve never played it. It is a true classic even among others in that franchise which has held up extremely well over time. Ghosts ‘N Goblins, meanwhile, is a much more difficult undertaking. Ignoring the recent abuse of the term, if you can beat Ghosts ‘N Goblins, then you’re a true hardcore gamer.
The fun doesn’t stop there! At long last, the puzzle-oriented The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages and the action-oriented The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons have finally arrived on the Nintendo 3DS Virtual Console.
Developed by Capcom for the Game Boy Color, these two games have a deal of their own as well as you can purchase both for $4.99 each– or two for $10, if you prefer– until June 20th, when their price goes up to their normal $5.99 each. And unlike Mega Man X and Ghosts ‘N Goblins, there is a definite reason you’ll want both: Complete one, and you’ll receive a special password to use in the other which gives you a starting boost and ties the two games together into one massive adventure with a special ending which only comes from conquering the two together.
Capping off the Capcom love today is a free “Imperial Demo” for Project X Zone, a strategy game developed by Monolith Software (Xenoblade Chronicles) which brings together over 50 heroes and villains from across numerous Capcom, SEGA, and publisher Namco Bandai games for a clash of epic proportions. Unfortunately, it’s not actually available today– you’ll have to check back on June 4th for that.
Through June 4th, you can get downloadable content for Just Dance 3 on the Wii or the Wii U for 30 percent off. Or, if you don’t have Just Dance 4 yet and would like to download that onto your Wii U, it’s 30 percent off as well.
The sequel to the Augmented Reality game The “Denpa” Men: They Came By Wave is here. In The “Denpa” Men 2: Beyond the Waves ($11.99), you can transfer all the friends you collected in the previous game to this one as you set off on a world-spanning adventure to save the hero’s family. StreetPassing with others allows you to exchange party information and increase the time you’re allowed to spend inside dungeons, and now you can even battle online.
Finally, there is Gummi Bear Mini Golf for $5.99 in the Nintendo 3DS eShop. It supports up to four players simultaneously with four themed environments, 30+ holes across four courses, five distinct modes including league and tournament, 20 achievements, and additional content to unlock and use.
