The Nintendo Download – 7/17/2014

Small lineup this week…

Wow, what an incredible stroke of luck! I’ve got plenty of other writing to do, and Nintendo decided to take it easy on me with only three releases this week.

Kind of sucks if you were hoping for a wide variety of new games to choose from, but at least there are some sales on some good titles as well. And, if it makes you feel any better, know that Super Mario Advance appears to be on the way, hopefully soon!

Strike Force Foxx for Nintendo 3DS – Wow, this takes me back. It feels like it’s been forever since we’ve last seen a good helicopter search-and-rescue game. Not that I know whether this one is any good, but we can hope.

As Captain Raymond Foxx, you’ll pilot your Razor-One helicopter through 35 missions of blasting gunmen, tanks, helicopters, planes, machine-gunning jeeps, heat-seeking missiles, gunboats, and submarines to save the citizens.

Comic Workshop for Nintendo 3DS – Want to learn to draw comics/manga? Then this is the software for you! You can even save your creations to the SD Card and print them out on your computer. Hey, I’m looking to get some new artists to help me on “Neo Bowser City,” maybe you could be the one!

Mr. Driller 2 for Wii U – The son of Dig Dug carries on in his father’s footsteps in this puzzle game. Dig through the colored blocks to reach safety, but be careful you don’t cut off your air supply or end up crushing yourself beneath the blocks above! Three modes include Mission Driller, Endless Driller, and Time Attack Driller.

Nintendo eShop Sales

SteamWorld Dig for Nintendo 3DS – This game is 50 percent off until 9am PT on July 31st. I grabbed this the last time it was on sale, and though I’ve not had time to play it (yet, as of this writing), the recommendations for it are very strong.

Little Inferno for Wii U – This game is 50 percent off until 9am PT on July 24th. I never got to review it, but it’s less a game and more like a virtual toybox as you burn things to gain money to buy more things to burn, unlocking pieces to a story as you progress. Very low-pressure, fun, captivating, and charming. For $4.99, I recommend it.

escapeVektor for Nintendo 3DS – Until 9am PT on August 21st, this game is on sale for $3.99. For what it’s worth, I reviewed the Wii version of this game for Nintendo Power, and gave it a rating of “Recommended.” If you’re into the gameplay of Pac-Man, you should like this.

Snow Moto Racing 3D for Nintendo 3DS – Until 9am PT on August 21st, this game is on sale for $3.99.

ATLUS Games for Nintendo 3DS – From 9am PT on July 21st to 9am PT on August 4th, a variety of ATLUS games are on sale in the Nintendo 3DS eShop, including Shin Megami Tensei IV and Shin Megami: Devil Summoner: Soul Hackers
