The Nintendo Download – 7/24/2014

Siesta Fiesta, Blaster Master, and some games that don’t rhyme, too.

A fascinating and fantastical bounty of new games and sales await in this week’s Nintendo Download. So, getting right to it:

Siesta Fiesta for Nintendo 3DS – Combine brick-breaking gameplay in the vein of Arkanoid, Breakout, and Alleyway with side-scrolling, and what do you get? This wild and wacky adventure.

Blaster Master for Nintendo 3DSBlaster Master: Enemy Below, the Game Boy Color sequel to this NES classic, arrived on the Nintendo 3DS Virtual Console way back in 2011 (you can find my review here). Now you can play the original title on the go as you take control of Jason, who treks through mysterious tunnels in and out of the upgradeable SOPHIA combat vehicle. Your goal? Find and rescue Fred… Jason’s pet frog.

101 Pony Pets 3D for Nintendo 3DS – Over 101 ponies to adopt, and just as many toys and items to get for them as you engage in various mini-games and tricks.

Pick-A-Gem for Nintendo 3DS – Collect gems by tapping on the bottom screen and forming a chain of three in the same color. Gain points to increase your experience level, allowing you to use new features and gain more points as you aim for the top spot on the leaderboard.

Scooby Doo! & Looney Tunes Cartoon Universe: Adventure for Nintendo 3DS – If I understand this right, this is like two games in one as Scooby and the gang are out to solve a mystery in Kraken Cove, while Bugs and Daffy are looking into who is behind the dastardly company known as MOCME, whose products sound like they’re even more defective than ACME’s!

Wooden Sen’SeY for Wii U – 30 exotic levels of danger await as the village chief, Goro, embarks on a quest for vengeance. Use his axes to defeat enemies while dodging obstacles including fire, collapsing platforms, pits, and whirring metal blades, all with a dose of humor on top.

Ufouria: The Saga for Wii U – Bop-Louie needs to find his three friends if he has any hope of escaping the strange world he’s found himself in. “Brain-boggling mazes, traps, and bizarre pitfalls stand in your way back to Ufouria.”

Master Reboot for Wii U – Not related to the Mainframe Entertainment computer-animated series, I’m sorry to say. That notwithstanding, this lovely title is a “haunting sci-fi adventure horror” game in which “death is no longer final.” Travel the world of Soul Cloud and “upload your soul to our dedicated servers and relax knowing that a part of you will live on for eternity.” 34 unique environments await as you follow the story and prepare to upload your soul for future preservation.

Super Toy Cars for Wii U – A tabletop arcade combat racing game for up to four simultaneous players, featuring 16 different cars, 12 tracks, and 48 events to challenge.
