The Nintendo Download – 7/31/2014

Jack in! MegaMan.EXE, transmit!

Just a quick programming note: I’m not going to be around to do updates for the next two weeks– Otakon awaits, as does the beach. I’ll still be updating with Weekly Deals for this week and more before I go, though!

Mega Man Battle Network for Wii U – The first adventure in the Battle Network timeline is available on the Wii U at last! In this world, the information superhighway has taken the technological lead over robots, and as Lan Hikari and his NetNavi, MegaMan.EXE, you’ll engage in NetBattles against viruses and other NetNavis to acquire Battle Chips that will allow you stop those causing chaos in the digital world from turning the physical world into one big blue screen of death.

On a related note, Nintendo says that ever week in August will bear a new Mega Man title for the Wii U, so keep your eyes peeled for that! You can find a list of the Mega Man titles announced, as well as others, on The Mega Man Network.

Frederic: Resurrection of Music for Wii U – This is too good, so I’m just going to quote it right here: “Frederic Chopin – one of the world’s most talented classical composers, is brought back from the afterlife and finds that he’s an involuntary part of a treacherous plan. The world of music is at the edge of destruction. Soulless music labels and mass-produced popstars have hindered all creativity. And you’re the only hope of bringing it back.”

12 remixes, 10 locations filled with Easter eggs and jokes, and one hour of animated comic fill this zany title.

IQ Test for Wii U – Tap your way through challenging puzzles and laugh at the failure of others. Seriously, that’s a selling point here.

XType Plus for Wii U – Arcade action meets a modern aesthetic as you take control of the XType spaceship and evade hundreds of bullets, lasers, and missiles as you take the procedurally-generated enemy apart. Post your scores to the world’s leaderboard, or watch video replays of the pros to pick up some new tricks.

LEGO Ninjago: Nindroids for Nintendo 3DS – Fight to defend New Ninjago City from the evil Overlord and his robotic army of Nindroids in this adaptation of the first five episodes of the LEGO Ninjago Rebooted television series.

Cubit the Hardcore Platformer Robot – Demo Version for Nintendo 3DS – Released in December last year, you now have the opportunity to try out a free demo version of this game. Three endings, two modes, 24 challenges, and guest characters from other games await you in this “hardcore platforming musical experience.”

Steel Empire for Nintendo 3DS – This steampunk shoot ’em up was originally released for the SEGA Genesis and Game Boy Advance, and contains seven stages, power-ups, and new 3D effects.

Tangram Attack for Nintendo 3DS – Three gameplay modes– Zen, Blitz, and Arcade– await as you slice and dice your way through “hundreds of brain twisting puzzles” to earn badges.
