The Nintendo Download – 8/21/2014

And then some.

Wow, it feels like it’s been forever since I did the Nintendo Download, but now I’m back and rarin’ to go! Read on for this week’s releases and sales, a quick rundown of what came out while I was away, and even a contest to win a pair of upcoming games before they’re officially released!

WiiU_DisneyInfinity_gameplay_04

Disney Infinity for Wii U – The good news? Disney Infinity, the House of Mouse’s answer to Activision’s Skylanders, is now available in the Nintendo eShop. Better news? It’s free. The catch? A “base” peripheral and figures are still required to play. Ah, you didn’t think it would be that easy, did you?

WiiU_MegaMan6_gameplay_03

Mega Man 6 for Wii U – The final NES adventure of the Blue Bomber is here, with eight Robot Masters from around the world standing between Mega Man and everlasting (until Mega Man 7, anyway) peace– and one was even designed by a Canadian! Along the way, Mega Man also picks up two new Rush Adapter suits which allow him to transform into the block-busting Power Mega Man or the high-flying Jet Mega Man!

Fun fact: Upon its original North American release, publishing duties were handled not by Capcom, but by Nintendo of America themselves! Which was more than Europe got– the game went unreleased there until it hit the Nintendo 3DS Virtual Console in June of last year, while last month saw it released to a European console for the first time on the Wii U!

WiiU_LifeForce_gameplay_04

Life Force for Wii U – This spiritual sequel to the classic Gradius ups the ante by allowing two space fighters to fly into action simultaneously for both side-scrolling and top-down shoot-em-up action.

WiiU_MidtownCrazyRace_gameplay_03

Midtown Crazy Race for Wii U – A tribute to late 90s racing games, this title boasts an open world, real physics, day and night modes, 50 levels of challenge, and seven cars to choose from.

N3DS_VC_GBC_XtremeSports_gameplay_01

Xtreme Sports for Nintendo 3DS – Skateboarding, In-Line Skating, Street Luge, Skyboarding, and Surfing are the events Guppi and Fin must conquer in order to be crowned the Xtreme Sports Champion, but will they fall victim to the mischief of the Bonehead Gang first? You decide!

N3DS_BLAZBLUE_gameplay_02

BLAZBLUE -CLONEPHANTASMA for Nintendo 3DS – This action battle game sees cute versions of the BlazBlue crew squaring off against hordes of enemies. With just one button, you can use a variety of moves to clear foes off the stage in either the Story or Challenge modes.

N3DS_DemonKingBox_gameplay_03

Demon King Box for Nintendo 3DS – Real-time strategy meets classic role playing gameplay as you gather demons and heroes alike to aid you in your quest.
