The Nintendo Download – 10/2/2014 – Smashmas Eve

Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS, and if that’s not enough, Castlevania Dracula X, too.

October begins, and what the first Nintendo Download lacks in quantity, it makes up for in quality. Well, sort of. Mostly. Read on to see.

Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS – Available on October 3rd, I’m not sure what’s left to say about this game except for what will be in my review… which will be posted tomorrow, when all embargoes are off. In the meantime, get hyped (if you’re not already) by watching this trailer, and know this one thing: I like it.

Oh, Nintendo adds “Fans planning on purchasing Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS at launch can save time by downloading the free game update (ver. 1.0.2) in advance. It’s available starting at 9 a.m. on Oct. 2 in the Nintendo eShop and is required for online mode.” I think that’s the same update I already got, and it didn’t take a long time for me to download, but it might be better to be safe than sorry.

Tenkai Knights Brave Battle for Nintendo 3DS – Available October 7th, it’s hard to get a good idea of what this game offers from the description, except that it has four heroes and combining, transforming, and shapeshifting robots. That might be enough for a sell right there.

Color Zen – Demo Version for Nintendo 3DS – Match colors to win through 460 levels in the main game, or try a sample with this new free demo in the Nintendo eShop.

Castlevania Dracula X for Wii U – This semi-prequel to the highly acclaimed Castlevania: Symphony of the Night is the alternate Super NES version of the Japan-only TurboGrafx CD classic Castlevania: Rondo of Blood. Though some say it holds up as a Castlevania title in general, most feel that it pales in comparison to its TurboGrafx counterpart, which is available on the Wii Virtual Console (accessible in the Wii Mode menu of the Wii U), but without the Wii U Virtual Console features such as Restore Points. You can check out a trailer for it here.

99Seconds for Wii U – Slow down time to dodge those who would see you destroyed for reaching the mysterious realm of Bit 8. You can also join forces with up to four friends to try to win the day!

Red Riding Hood for Wii U – You know the story, but now, you can affect the outcome as you choose your own path through this fairy tale classic.

Nintendo eShop Sales

Poker Dice Solitaire Future for Wii U – Until October 30th, this title is reduced by 30 percent from 99 cents to 69 cents. I won’t do a full review, but I’ll say that in my opinion, it’s decent enough to be worth that price.

Jett Rocket II: The Wrath of Taikai for Nintendo 3DS – Until 8:59am PT on October 23rd, this title has been mysteriously reduced by “more than” 30 percent, from $8.99 to $5.99.

Tappingo for Nintendo 3DS – Similarly, this title has also been reduced by “more than” 30 percent, from $2.99 to $1.99 until 8:59am PT on October 16th.

Price Reduction

Just Dance Kids 2014 for Wii U – Beginning October 6th, this title will be reduced from $29.99 to $19.99.

Harvest Moon 2 for Nintendo 3DS – Coming October 16th.
