Nintendo of Canada’s Julie Gagnon Speaks on Nintendo Day

Smash Bros., Pokémon, and amiibo, oh my!

Last week during the countdown to Nintendo Day (November 21st, in case you missed it), there was fun for all as fans of Nintendo converged near Union Station to play Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, Pokémon Omega Ruby, Pokémon Alpha Sapphire, and admire the leading wave of amiibo figures, all hours before they would officially go on sale.

Around the eight-player matches up on a giant screen and feasting on a custom Nintendo Day cake, I had the opportunity to speak with Nintendo of Canada spokesperson Julie Gagnon about the event and Nintendo’s lineup heading into the holidays, which you can see right here:

I apologize for the quality of the video, as you may need to turn your speakers up in order to hear it. In addition to the background noise provided by the eight-player matches going on right in front of us, an incoming phone call wound up interrupting the video recording. Great design there, Apple– this is why I have voice mail, after all.

For those wondering, Ms. Gagnon was describing some of the features she enjoyed in Fantasy Life, whose review on this site is still forthcoming.

Following are two pictures from the event, and you can find more on Nintendo of Canada’s Facebook page.

And you can check out my own small assortment of pics right here:

Thanks to Nintendo of Canada for inviting us to the event, and to Ms. Gagnon for taking the time to answer my questions!
