November 21st is Declared ‘Nintendo Day’ by Nintendo of Canada

Celebrating the official launch of amiibo, Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, Pokémon Omega Ruby, and Pokémon Alpha Sapphire.

Last week, Nintendo of Canada held Canada’s Pokémon Video Game Event, but that wasn’t all they had in store for the 11th month of the year– not by a long shot. A press release issued this week by the company has revealed that there will be a couple of other events leading up to the official launch of amiibo, Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, Pokémon Omega Ruby, and Pokémon Alpha Sapphire.

First up are the Super Smash Bros. for Wii U Open Training Sessions. From November 15th to 19th at participating Best Buy, Future Shop, and Toys R Us locations across Canada, you’ll have the opportunity to meet up with the Nintendo training team and play the latest installment in the series before it becomes available at retail. There will be both open training sessions for those new to the series as well as battle rounds for those who know the ropes of Super Smash Bros. In addition, amiibo will be on hand so everyone can witness their favorite characters coming to life in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U.

Next, on Thursday, November 20th will be the Countdown Event in Toronto (which, it should be noted, is the same as the Super Smash Bros. for Wii U pre-launch event the Electric Playground Network has been promoting). On the the York Street Bridge between Union Station and the Skywalk that connects it to the CN Tower and Rogers Centre, fans can visit from 4pm to 10pm to play the games hours before they hit shelves, see amiibo in action, and have a chance to win prizes and giveaways (while supplies last) by attending dressed as your favorite Nintendo character. Plus, Mario and Luigi will be on hand as celebrity guests!

Just hours after those festivities end, these EB Games locations will be opening at 12:01am on November 21st to allow the most dedicated fans to come in and purchase their own copies of Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, Pokémon Omega Ruby, Pokémon Alpha Sapphire, and their choice of amiibo.

Finally, November 21st will mark “Nintendo Day” as sampling sessions are held across Canada at Best Buy, Future Shop, and Toys R Us from 1pm to 7pm. Not only will the Nintendo team be on hand to give everyone a chance to try the games, but– you guessed it– there will be more giveaways held throughout the course of the day (while supplies last, of course). Whew! That’s a lot going on! For more updates, you can follow Nintendo of Canada on Facebook and Twitter. Plus, fans are encouraged to share their experiences online with the hashtag #NintendoDay for a chance to be featured on Nintendo of Canada’s social media channels.
