Xbox has announced today that they will be partnering with Universal Pictures for a new stand-alone expansion to Forza Horizon 2 which brings the fun and thrills of the Fast & Furious movies to the racing game you know and love. The title? Forza Horizon 2 Presents Fast & Furious.
The expansion will be available to both Xbox One and Xbox 360 players on March 27th, just one week before the latest film in the long-running franchise hits theatres on April 3rd. There, you’ll be able to race with a number of vehicles featured in each of the films, including the new seventh installment. The best part is, as a stand-alone product, you don’t even need to own the original Forza Horizon 2 to partake in the experience!
“Forza is synonymous with racing and fun, so it’s only natural for us to work with one of the most celebrated automotive entertainment franchises in the world,” said Phil Spencer, head of Xbox, in a press release. “This is a great way to bring Forza players into the world of Fast & Furious, and in Forza Horizon 2 Presents Fast & Furious, every fan will get a chance to go wheels-first into the exciting action of the Fast & Furious franchise.”
“Furious 7 is the latest installment in our enormously successful franchise, and partnering with the world-class team at Turn 10 Studios offered an exceptional opportunity to thank our fans in an exciting way,” said Bill Kispert, Executive Vice President, Worldwide Digital Platforms, Universal Partnerships & Licensing in the aforementioned press release. “In this adventure, fans will experience the thrill of the Fast & Furious series’ most iconic cars through the amazing gameplay of Forza. We can’t think of a better combination for gamers and movie fans alike.”
To celebrate the latest entry and partnership, there will be a two week sale running from the game’s March 27th launch through April 10th. During this period, the download will be available free of charge before taking on its $10 price tag after April 10th. And fear not, those who download during this period can continue to play for free with no restrictions.
Forza Horizon 2 Presents Fast & Furious sees Chris “Ludacris” Bridges reprise his role as Fast & Furious expert mechanic Tej Parker, who will recruit players to source cars for the crew’s next big mission. “Players will take part in a series of thrilling car challenges set in the idyllic south of France, challenges inspired by both the Fast & Furious films and Forza’s legendary gameplay.” Completing challenges will unlock new cars which can be added to your collection and driven in the open world of free roam play.
You can also take pictures of your favorite cars in the game and share them with other Forza players by way of the official Forza website and the Forza Hub app on Xbox One.
