The Nintendo Download – 2/5/2015

Demos, DLC, Pre-Purchases, and even some games, too!

Better late than never, right? Things got a bit busy yesterday, but here’s the latest batch of downloadable dandies from Nintendo!

Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate – Demo Version for Nintendo 3DS – The latest iteration of Capcom’s hit franchise won’t be available until February 13th, but you can give it a try for free right now! Play alone, or join with up to three friends via local or wifi online connection! You can view a trailer for the game here.

Moon Chronicles DLC for Nintendo 3DS – Experience the rest of the Moon Chronicles saga in the way you choose, whether by purchasing them individually or all together in one lower-cost Season Pass.

Game & Watch Gallery 3 for Nintendo 3DS – Ever wonder what Mr. Game & Watch was doing before he was starring in Super Smash Bros.? Well wonder no more! Five classic games– Egg, Turtle Bridge, Green House, Mario Bros., and Donkey Kong Jr. are all recreated here for your enjoyment, along with updated versions starring Mario and friends! The Classic mode also provides six extra games which can be unlocked and played.

KAMI for Nintendo 3DS – To win this puzzle game, you’ll need to fold out colored paper in order to fill the screen in the fewest moves possible. Will the calming soundtrack be enough to help you overcome all 63 puzzles?

SpongeBob HeroPants for Nintendo 3DS – I guess this is available today? No screens, and the link to the game’s page doesn’t even work… uh, enjoy? For what it’s worth, the game takes place after the events of the film The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water, out in theatres today.

Kirby and the Rainbow Curse Pre-Purchase for Wii U – Buy this game in the Nintendo eShop now, and you can download it and be ready to play when a small update unlocks it on February 19th at 9pm PT.

Hyrule Warriors DLC for Wii U – With the Majora’s Mask DLC package, you can play as Young Link and Tingle. You’ll also get new maps and costumes, too!

You can purchase this downloadable content pack by itself in the Nintendo eShop, or get the 4-pack “Heroes of Hyrule” bundle in the Nintendo eShop or at retail, which contains the Majora’s Mask pack, the two previously released DLC packs, a “Boss Pack” that will launch in March, and a bonus in-game Dark Link costume.

Dig Dug for Wii U – Drill your way through the underground, but watch out for the Pooka and Fygar who dwell deep within the earth. Use your air pump to over-inflate them, or lure them into traps where they’ll be crushed by boulders, then claim the vegetables for bonus points!

Mappy Land for Wii U – Six presents have been stolen and hidden away in each stage by Nyamco and his gang of felonious felines. As Mappy, it’s up to you use special items and traps to elude the cats, retrieve the presents from each stage, and make it to Mapico’s birthday on time.

Dolphin Up for Wii U – SEGA’s Ecco the Dolphin was an unique game which placed you in the role of the titular sea mammal and set you out on a quest of mystery and exploration, dealing with aliens and rescuing all the life abducted from the sea.

But if you’re like me and anyone I ever knew who played the game, you largely ignored all that and just made Ecco jump as high out of the water as you could. And now someone’s made a game all about that! Shoot for the moon and do as many tricks as you can for the highest score in two-minute chunks!

Also, as you can see, you can even get a polar bear for an audience. How can you top that?

Puzzle Monkeys for Wii U – Manipulate and destroy colored blocks in this match-3 puzzle game “only made possible by the Wii U GamePad.”

Tri-Strip for Wii U – Clearly inspired visually by the Game Boy, this 90’s-styled retro-themed puzzle game has you arranging rows of triangles in order to make quads. “Enjoy strategic gameplay at a fast pace in the Arcade mode. Push yourself to the limit in the five Challenge modes. Weep for mercy in the time-based challenges of the Super-Hardcore mode!”
