The Nintendo Download – 7/9/2015

Again, I say: ‘3DS? What 3DS?’

Another unusually Wii U-centric edition of the Nintendo Download today — other than a new theme, some activities, and a couple of sales, there’s practically nil for the portable platform, releases least of all. In that department, it’s all Wii U, and even then, only one big name title to lead off with.

Mario Tennis for Wii U – From Camelot and the developers who brought you the Golden Sun and Mario Golf games is this Nintendo 64 classic for up to four players. Before Mario Tennis: Ultra Smash arrives this holiday season, get some practice in with the original, thanks to this Virtual Console release.

Asteroid Quarry for Wii U – Explore space, fend off pirates, mine asteroids for ore, and deposit it back on your satellite in this arcade-style action-adventure game.

Dare Up Adrenaline for Wii U – One or two players simultaneously can feel the rush of piloting a wingsuit around obstacles and through narrow spaces in this sports/racing game.

DON’T CRASH for Wii U – Race around the track in this one-player title and use the A button to switch lanes. There is only one rule: DON’T CRASH.

KEYTARI: 8-Bit Music Maker for Wii U – Play 8-bit keytar tunes with the Wii U GamePad and rack up as high a score as you can. Are you able to reach the fabled score of 9999 and thus “beat” the game?

Land it Rocket for Wii U – Through 28 levels or one Endless run of hazards, your goal is to safely land your rocket in the shortest possible time — ideally with a three-star rating.

Neon Battle for Wii U – One or two players simultaneously collide as they smash and curse their way to victory in the circular battlefield. Four different modes task you with the goal of keeping the ball in-bounds.

Santa Factory for Wii U – I’ve heard of “Christmas in July,” but this is ridiculous. All the same, this puzzle-strategy game tasks you as Tonttu and Rudolf as they help gather Santa’s lost presents and learn English words.
