Star Wars Lightsaber Battle in Toronto on 10/24

Let’s light it up!

2015 has pretty much been the year for fans of the Back to the Future films, culminating with October 21st’s “Future Day” celebrations. However, that isn’t the only film series to have a banner year, and unlike Back to the Future, the best is yet to come for these fans.

Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens hits theatres on December 18th, and the new Star Wars Battlefront will be available for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and on Origin for PC come November 17th. But before all that, Newmindspace is presenting “Lightsaber Battle Toronto 2015” on Saturday, October 24th from 8pm to 11pm at Nathan Phillips Square (100 Queen Street West) in Toronto, Ontario. Fans of all ages are invited out to partake in this event, ideally bringing their own lightsaber in tow (there were some available to reserve, but those sold out quick).

The battle proper will take place a little after 9pm, though this is To Be Confirmed based on the outcome of the Toronto Blue Jays’ Game 7. Plus, at 9:30pm, Best Buy is sponsoring an epic martial arts battle featuring an LED-clad Jedi warrior “teched-out” with gear from Best Buy battling a Sith from the audience. Be prepared for backflips, roundhouse kicks, and even a bit of breakdancing.

For more information, check out the event page on Facebook.

Edited to add/clarify the Best Buy battle information.
