Check Out the 2015 Canadian Video Game Awards and CVA FanFest

Celebrate Canadian game development the first weekend of December.

While the sixth annual Canadian Video Game Awards are poised to take place the night of Sunday, December 6th, those who will be in Toronto can get in on the action throughout the weekend.

2015 marks the first ever CVA FanFest, which will celebrate the medium all weekend long with booths from gaming studios and hardware companies aplenty. Fans will be able to take part in gaming tournaments as well as meet game creators and voice actors. From the website:

Fans will have the opportunity to try out games that will be released prior to the holiday season and meet their creators in the new Fan Zone and Canadian Game Zone. The Canadian Game Zone will host some of Canada’s best talent and showcase a range of developers from across the country. The FanZone will host larger developers and international brands that are synonymous with gaming. The public will also be able to test their skills against other players in the Videogame Competition.

The festivities will culminate at 8pm on Sunday night with the 2015 Canadian Video Game Awards show, which will be preceded by live on-stage bands and performers all celebrating the Canadian Video Game industry. To learn which games have been named as finalists for the awards, click here.

“It’s important to celebrate and support the Canadian video game industry,” notes a CVA press release, as “more than 20,400 Canadians are directly employed in the industry, and $3.0 billion is added to Canada’s GDP each year. The event will be held at the Mattamy Athletic Centre (the former Maple Leaf Gardens) at 50 Carlton Street in downtown Toronto. Those interested in attending can find ticket information here.
