Walmart Canada Getting Stand-Alone Darth Vader DualShock 4 Controller
“No… I am your controller!”
Among the many variations and bundles Sony Computer Entertainment is releasing for the PlayStation 4 this holiday season is a special limited edition Darth Vader Star Wars Battlefront 500GB system, complete with unique controller and console designs to reflect the iconic villain of the long-running space opera. For those interested, it is slated to be available on November 17th.
But maybe you already own a PlayStation 4; maybe you’re kicking yourself for not holding off until the recent price cut. Whatever the case, you find yourself without the position nor desire to go to the lengths necessary to obtain another system decked out with the Sith Lord’s helmeted visage. But that controller… if only they would just sell you that, then maybe you could sleep a little more easily.
Attention, Walmart shoppers: there’s good news for you! According to the PlayStation Facebook page, you’ll be able to get precisely that at Walmarts across Canada beginning November 13th. That’s right, you can have the controller before everyone else even gets the console!
For all intents and purposes, the stand-alone version of the controller is just your standard DualShock 4 controller, just with a Sith-inspired deco to help it stand out from all the other black controllers released for the platform. In a neat touch, however, there still seems to be a little bit of Jedi left in ol’ Lightbright here, as the R1 button on the right is cast in blue, as opposed to the red used across the rest of the controller — an interesting nod to the color of lightsaber Anakin once wielded before his turn to the Dark Side. (*Koo-ha…*)
Oh, and the front glows blue as well, but I think that’s just standard. I can wave my hand in front of your face and try to make you forget you ever saw it, but I can’t guarantee results.
