Kerfluffled FIFA Dad Receives Full Refund from Xbox
‘Let’s thank them for making that choice.’
In an update to the story posted last week about the teen from Pembroke, Ontario who racked up a credit card bill of nearly $8,000 in a FIFA title, there is now a happy ending of sorts as Microsoft has elected to refund the charges to the family in full following its investigation into the matter. As one might expect, the outcome has left the father, Lance Perkins, “very pleased.”
“I hope we have warned enough people. This is not just a game when it can upset a whole family and endanger our children with making mistakes,” Lance Perkins told CBC News in a text message. “I hope there are more safeguards put in place for credit card holders.”
“Let’s thank them for making that choice,” he added, though whether or not the ban on Xbox and all gaming consoles in his house still stands is unclear.
As for Microsoft, while they would confirm that they were aware of the case, they would not offer any comment on it.
