The Nintendo Download – 4/17/2014 – ‘The Wizard’ Edition

It’s the week we’ve all been waiting for! The week of Video Armageddon!

(That’s a reference to The Wizard, in case you’re not familiar with it.)

Super Mario Bros. 3 for Wii U and Nintendo 3DS – While Bowser was busy ruling over the Mushroom Kingdom in the original Super Mario Bros., he’d already dispatched his seven crazy Koopalings ahead into the seven varied realms of the Mushroom World, having them steal the monarchs’ magic wands and transform them each into a different helpless animal! It’s up to Mario (and maybe Luigi) to track down and confront the Koopalings in order to set things right.

This NES classic is heralded as one of the best games of all time, and is now available on both the Wii U and Nintendo 3DS Virtual Consoles, the latter with download play for multiplayer fun. Witness the origin of the Super Leaf and the Tanooki Suit from New Super Mario Bros. 2 and Super Mario 3D Land, as well as the Hammer Bros. Suit that would serve as the template for numerous future power-ups to come, and the first caper of the Koopalings!

Golden Sun for Wii U – With the use of noble weapons, Psyenergy, and the elemental Djinn, you can gain the edge you need in the dangerous battles against the dark forces who hope to use the lost art of Alchemy for their own wicked purposes. Combining different Djinn in different ways allows you access to even more powerful spells in this role playing game adventure.

F-Zero: Maximum Velocity for Wii U – Formula One racing? Try Formula Zero. Twenty different tracks with four difficulty levels await as you race against the galaxy’s most elite racers to capture the checkered flag. It will be no easy task, as according to Nintendo, “Whether you’re a veteran of the Super NES version or a racing rookie, you’ll need some practice laps to master this Game Boy Advance classic.”

LEGO The Hobbit for Wii U – Available on April 22nd, this adaptation of Peter Jackson’s telling of the J.R.R. Tolkien classic follows the events of the first two films with the LEGO style of humor and gameplay you’ve come to expect.

Flowerworks HD: Follie’s Adventure for Wii U – Help Follie escape from the mysterious alien planet she’s crash-landed on by finding all of your scattered seeds before those no-good gnomes do! Then you can discover the secret of planet Elilia, either alone or with a friend, with five difficulty levels to choose from.

My First Songs for Wii U – Fifteen of “the most popular children’s songs of all time” are included in this title for young children. They can sing solo using the Wii U GamePad’s built-in microphone, or with a separate microphone peripheral, two can get in on the fun. The GamePad can also be used for Off TV play, and can take pictures of the singing child.

Bit Boy!! ARCADE for Nintendo 3DS – Learn about game development with Kubi, along with his friends and enemies, as you play faster for higher scores through 200 phases and rescue nearly 1,500 pixel friends!

Smash Cat Heroes for Nintendo 3DS – Samurai cats clash as they attack enemies from all directions, all while in the pursuit of the Super Cat Food which grants the one who eats it all the power in the world. Each character has their own skills, and you can increase their attributes as you go by using money earned in-game.
