The Nintendo Download – 10/4/12

Lots to talk about in the Nintendo Download today, so let’s get right to it:

First up are the recently-released titles Crosswords Plus and Art Academy: Lessons for Everyone!, which are fairly self-explanatory (but you can click the links for more specific information). These are both available at regular retail, too, and so their prices are much higher than the normal eShop fare: $29.99 each.

And as we mentioned previously, downloading either Crosswords Plus or Art Academy: Lessons for Everyone! will allow you to take advantage of the Club Nintendo offer to get a free download of Donkey Kong: Original Edition, a version of the NES game modified to make it a little truer to the original arcade game.

Pokémon Dream Radar is an Augmented Reality game which will be released on October 7th for $2.99. With it, you can find and catch Pokémon in the “Interdream Zone,” a realm between dreams and reality.

What’s more, “Pokémon caught using the Pokémon Dream Radar can be transferred into Pokémon Black Version 2 and Pokémon White Version 2, helping players build their roster of Pokémon. Pokémon Dream Radar also includes some hard-to-get Pokémon, giving players even more incentive to catch them for their Pokémon Black Version 2 and Pokémon White Version 2 games.”

For those interested in the upcoming retail and Nintendo eShop release of Style Savvy: Trendsetters, a new demo is now available in the eShop which allows you to take part in the game’s “Fashion Contest” mode. “Create an outfit based on the contest theme, style your model’s hair and makeup and send her down the runway. You’ll be battling your in-game rivals for the fashion crown. May the hottest look win!”

As we learned recently, New Super Mario Bros. 2 has some new downloadable content today in the form of three Coin Rush Downloadable Course Packs. Each contains three new courses for $2.50 each, and come in easy, medium, and hard difficulties.

Also new to the eShop today is the modern-day classic Cave Story, a Metroid/Castlevania-like game of exploration and empowerment, for $9.99. More side-scrolling action can be found in Samurai G, a $1.99 reflex-intensive game in which you must gather and harness the power of the Tengu’s gold before it can fall into the wrong hands.

Like chess? Then perhaps the Nintendo eShop/DSiWare game Academy: Chess Puzzles is right for you. For $1.99/200 DSi Points, you’ll get hundreds of chess-based puzzles of varying difficulty.

The Game Boy version of Dr. Mario joins the Nintendo 3DS Virtual Console for $3.99. If the $4.99 download of Dr. Mario Express has too much flash and pizazz for you, then perhaps the simpler original version will be more to your liking.

On October 5th, Nintendo Video will update with a new episode of Dinosaur Office. In “New Owners,” “a new predator prowls the top of the corporate food chain.” Will the office ever be the same again?

Finally, in a surprising twist, WiiWare gets a new game in the form of Drop Zone: Under Fire. 500 Wii Points will get you over 100 action-packed levels of immersive, first-person 360-degree free-fall simulation as you fight against robot overlords who are trying to take over an all but abandoned Earth. Blast enemy ships and deliver supplies to save the day!

And that’s everything for this week. Be sure to click on the corresponding links above to get more information, screens, and videos from each of this week’s releases!
